Jackie's Dream--In Memoriam
I created this image in memory of Dr. Kristine Weaver, Los Alamos, NM, who passed away on June 24, 2010. She was Jackie's veterinarian. Dr. Weaver was kind, caring, intelligent, and compassionate. She operated on Jackie's nose to open up his nasal passages so that he could breathe more easily. Not only could he breathe better, but he could smell things better, too, and for the first days following surgery he ran around the house smelling everything, as if for the first time. How much Kristine Weaver helped him! Her love for animals was a great love. The thing that I will always remember about her is that she was a nice person to have by your side-- it just felt good to be near her.
Jackie turned four this July 4th. He is a lively boy and every day he plays with his friend Mully. So those are the images of his dream; Jackie and Mully being together. One of Jackie's strengths is that he is good eater. He embodies the much-loved Winne the Pooh quotation, It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn't use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like "What about lunch?"

A Winning Image in the 2010 AAUW Art Contest
The American Association of University Women (AAUW) recently honored the work of Michelle Stump by voting one of her images into the 19-artist winner’s circle in the national AAUW 2010 Art Contest. This was the second national award for Stump who was also a winner in the AAUW 2009 Art Contest.
In the 2010 contest, designs by over 330 other entrants were voted on by thousands of AAUW members from across the country during February and March 2010. All 19 winning entries are displayed online at http://aauw.org/contests/winners.cfm. They will be published as a 2011 calendar and sent to over 100,000 AAUW members, who respond with monetary donations. This has historically resulted in significant funding for the association.
To have again used her talents as a digital artist to contribute to the AAUW has meant a lot to Stump. She joined the AAUW in 2006 and commented, “As a college graduate who entered the workforce in the 60’s, I have lived and worked through an incredible time for women in the history of the United States. Being able to make a contribution to the AAUW allows me to give back to an organization that has helped me over the course of many years.”
Over the past 10 years Stump’s LLC, the Harp of the Spirit Publishing Company, has been recognized by the State of New Mexico for its contributions to the economic well being of the state, featured in the University of New Mexico 2007 Annual Report, and noted as an outstanding contributor to the Adobe User Group program. Stump has won awards from the UNM-Los Alamos Small Business Development Center, Imaging Professionals of the Southwest, New Mexico Magazine, and the American Association of University Women.
Stump is employed as a contract writer/editor at Compa Industries in Los Alamos, NM. She is assigned to the Information Resource Management Division, Communication Arts and Services Group at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

I submitted it to the American Association of University Women

Still Life with Cat and Peas
Summer day.
Frozen peas.
Porcelain bathtub.
Heaven.
This greeting card is of my cat Mully in the bathtub on a hot summer day.
A few weeks before this photo I had sprained my ankle and had purchased two large bags of frozen peas, which could easily conform to my ankle and foot....to help keep the swelling down. Since the peas had been defrosted and refrozen many times, they were only good for sprained ankles and overheated Exotic Shorthair cats.
